Who We Are
We are Christian men converted to Christ and called by Him to serve in love and dedication. Our faith is entirely founded on the Bible, the Word of God, and our doctrinal confession is Baptist. We hold our convictions by legitimate conviction, not tradition or convenience — baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Our Manifesto
Organized on May 26, 2012, the OPBCB brings together pastors of similar conviction for communion and order, seeking a return to biblical and historically distinctive Baptist values.
Rooted in the authority of Scripture, our fellowship holds that the Bible is the fully inspired and sufficient Word of God. Every doctrine, every practice, and every conviction we embrace flows from this foundational truth. We do not lean on human tradition, cultural trends, or institutional convenience, but on the living and enduring text that has guided faithful believers across the centuries. This commitment shapes our worship, our preaching, and our life together as pastors who desire to honor God in all things.
Baptist identity runs deep in our communion, not as a label inherited passively but as a confession embraced by personal conviction. We affirm the historic distinctives that have marked Baptist witness through generations: regenerate church membership, believer’s baptism by immersion, the autonomy of the local church under the lordship of Christ, religious liberty for all people, and the priesthood of every believer. These principles are not negotiable accommodations but cherished truths we gladly uphold.
Our fellowship was established to provide a space where pastors of like mind could gather for mutual encouragement and doctrinal clarity. In an age of theological drift and pragmatic compromise, we recognize the need for steadfast voices that remain anchored to the old paths. Meeting together nationally and in regional gatherings, we strengthen one another through shared conviction, prayer, and the reaffirmation of the faith once delivered to the saints.
Gospel centrality marks everything we pursue. The good news of Jesus Christ crucified, buried, and raised for the salvation of sinners is the heartbeat of our ministry. We believe that repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ constitute the only way of reconciliation with the Creator. This message is not one option among many but the singular hope for a world lost in darkness, and we proclaim it without apology.
Pastoral ministry, as we understand it, is a sacred calling rather than a mere profession. Those who serve among us are men converted to Christ, examined by their churches, and set apart for the work of shepherding God’s flock. This calling demands character, doctrinal soundness, and a servant’s heart. We labor not for gain or recognition but out of love for the Chief Shepherd who will one day reward the faithfulness of His undershepherds.
Our gatherings, whether at the national level or in sectional meetings across Brazil, serve as milestones of fellowship and doctrinal reaffirmation. Each assembly provides opportunity for pastors to connect, to share burdens, and to align their ministries more closely with biblical standards. The records of these meetings stand as a testimony to the continuity of our work and the faithfulness of God in sustaining a people committed to His truth.
We issue public statements and manifestos not out of a desire for controversy but from a sense of prophetic responsibility. When doctrinal error threatens the peace and purity of the churches, silence is not an option. Our protest statements are measured, biblically grounded, and offered in a spirit of love for the brethren and reverence for the truth. They represent our collective voice raised in defense of the gospel and the wellbeing of Christ’s flock.
The tone of our fellowship is marked by gravity and joy in equal measure. We take seriously the weight of eternal realities and the accountability that rests upon those who teach and lead. Yet there is profound gladness in our communion, for we serve a risen Savior whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light. Our meetings are characterized by warm fellowship, hearty singing, and the deep satisfaction of standing together in the truth.
Looking forward, our desire is to remain faithful to the end. We do not measure success by numbers, influence, or cultural relevance but by fidelity to the Word of God and love for His people. As the landscape around us shifts and new challenges arise, we are resolved to hold fast to the pattern of sound words entrusted to us, entrusting the results to the sovereign God who builds His church and whose purposes cannot fail.
“We are classic Baptists by legitimate conviction, not by tradition or convenience.”
